I want to point out an interesting resource that we highlighted, that companies serving seniors can use to help their clients.
Check out this Fall Prevention Resource - Click Here.
This brochure is created by the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) and it is meant to be used by companies serving seniors. This is part of "STEADI Materials for Your Older Adult Patients."
Go to this web page to see all of the STEADI Resources - Click Here
The CDC is providing versions with crop marks for if you want to print materials and also the online versions. There are also materials available in Spanish.
One of the interesting publications in the STEADI Resources is the Postural hypotension (or orthostatic hypotension). This is when a senior's blood pressure drops when you go from
lying down to sitting up or from sitting to standing. When blood pressure drops, less blood can go to your organs and muscles and this can make you likely to fall. Here is a link to that brochure - Click Here
Hope this is a helpful resource for your company.

Check out Cyber-Seniors - Connecting Generations - Film Screening
We had a news snippet submitted to SeniorsResourceGuide National News & Events that caught our attention. Check out, "Cyber-Seniors – Connecting Generations – Film Screening." This is a new documentary film that is part of a nation-wide theatrical campaign to help promote youth volunteerism and senior tech literacy.
Cyber-Seniors chronicles the journey of a group of senior citizens as they discover the Internet through the guidance of teenage mentors. The cast of Cyber-Seniors both young and old, will make you laugh out loud (or LOL, as the Internet tech savvy teens say).
Visit the website and view the movie Trailer and look for a showing in your area. If this movie is showing in your area, help a group of seniors and teens see this movie. It would be a great activity for a senior center or retirement community! www.cyberseniorsdocumentary.com

Have to Mention a Great Networking Group - Denver Senior Coalitions!
Want to introduce you to a great networking group - Denver Senior Coalitions. Seniors Resource Guide is a member. And the amazing part is that as a networking group, the dues we collect go into a Joint Coalition Assistance fund and through JCAF Volunteers, the money is given to needy seniors recommended by Coalition members. That is great in and of itself, but the amazing part is the strength of the organization that comes from all of the volunteers and members at large. Check out the group's website:
Website: www.DenverSeniorCoalitions.org
By the way, we (Seniors Resource Guide) built and maintain the website. This is an example of where a simple organizational website showcases the group's content and resources. The website has great content and resources for professionals because we have amazing members to talk about!
So thank you to all Denver Senior Coalition Members!

Have to share that we worked with Colorado Senior Lobby and their Senior Day at The Capitol event. Karin Hall is a Board Member of Colorado Senior Lobby. And everyone agreed and we did!
So Senior Day at The Capitol is over but not gone!

Where are events going in regard to media strategy?
When I ask the question, "Where are events going in regard to media strategy?" The answer I am looking for is, "Be sure to make a video of your event." And this is what Colorado Senior Lobby has done with their Senior Day at The Capitol that happened on April 2, 2014.
Here are some details ...
I am a volunteer and one of the Board of Directors for this group. Through the tremendous work of the event committee for this event (in particular Steve Grund), we were able to get a local News personality attend the event which in turn caused the news channel to send a camera crew. The news personality was Mark Koebrich, of KUSA Channel 9NEWS Denver. Mark Koebrich is well-known in Colorado for his 9News Senior Source.
Bottom line is that the 9News Station covered our great event and the Colorado Senior Lobby organization had wonderful promotion for this great event. Here are some links:
Here is a link to the news video 9NEWS produced about the event - Click Here
Here is a link to Colorado Senior Lobby - Click Here
However the next step is that Colorado Senior Lobby hired a videographer to film the event and we are planning to make a few well-crafted short videos. These items should be available in about a week and we will be making more posts about this event and how we are using video to extend the reach of the event. Stay tuned!
One last comment - 9News recently updated their website and I personally like how easy it is to navigate and the combination of video and text. Check it out - Click Here.
And from Colorado Senior Lobby to KUSA Channel 9NEWS - thank you!

Always interesting to find new organizations like this one
Through some networking we have been introduced to an organization called Spellbinders. The Spellbinders storytelling program recreates the age-old tradition of storytelling while bringing together older adults and young people. This seems like a great way to advance literacy for young people and engage older adults in the community. Learn more about their group through their website - www.spellbinders.org. Share this resource with your community.

Sharing some Tips in Regard to Posting Event Flyers Online
Just want to share some tips in regard to posting Event Flyers online. Here goes ...
- Always post the files in the PDF format as opposed to posting a Microsoft Word File or Publisher File. PDF stands for Portable Document Format and it was developed by Adobe Acrobat - basically it is close to a universal format online and most web viewers can open the file. Visit Wikipedia to get more details about PDF files -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portable_Document_Format
And while at the Wikipedia website consider making a donation. They are an awesome resource and they need our support: - Next suggest is to be sure to include your website address - We know the other details are important such as where, when and what but your website is important too. And assuming you save your file as a PDF then when you post your flyer online your website should be an active link.
- Our next suggest is how to name the file - keep in mind that the file name shows up in your website code so try to use your company name, short name of the event and then the date. Including the date is important so that at a glance the online viewer can see that the event is coming up or as past.
- Here are some examples of event flyers we have posted for December within our network. Note how the file names incorporate the "company name, name of the event and the date" ...

At a Senior Professional Meeting Today Learned More about Sandler Training
Have to share that I attended the Denver Southwest Coalition on Aging senior professional networking meeting today in Denver and listened to a presentation by Chuck Terry of Sandler Training. Chuck's group is located in Lone Tree, Colorado and his website says he serves the Denver area.
Chuck is a good speaker and shared a well-paced presentation that engaged our group, got us laughing (which is always a good thing) and he shared some tips on "non-sales selling." Here is his website:
www.SalesGrowthMD.sandler.com
Anyone in sales can probably use some new tips, techniques and new energy if they have been in sales for a few years. Not to mention that 'sales strategy' as it existed 5 years ago has changed dramatically from the impact of the Internet, cell phones, voice messaging and more. And the truth is more changes are coming as we do our best to be "non-sales" sales people.
And from the Denver Senior Coalitions to Chuck Terry of Sandler Training of Lone Tree, Colorado - Thank you for taking the time to attend our meeting and make your presentation. Learn more about the Denver Senior Coalitions at their website:
